Subject: Deaf Pit Bull

I work at a humane society and we have a frequent visitor named Chico. Chico is a white pit bull with blue eyes and he is deaf. He's a wonderful dog, but is not neutered and is constantly running at large. Besides the obvious problems of him being out and the risks of him getting hurt, his owner has taken on a female and plans to breed him. I have warned her that breeding him was not a good idea for again obvious reasons, but also because he's at a great risk of passing on the "white" gene. I have spent the last hour searching online for information on the "deadly white gene" however I've been unsuccessful at finding something she would read. Chico is at the shelter with his girlfriend right now and will probably be picked up soon. I would just like to know for future reference if anyone knows a good informational site that is either Pit Bull or non-breed specific on the downside of breeding a dog like Chico. It will probably go in one ear and out the other, but at least I tried. Thank you for your help.
