My sweetie and I watched Star Trek this past weekend. It was an impressive action flick. There certainly was something for just about everyone. Could have used more technobabble, though. The actors played their parts very well.

I've never been a huge fan of Kirk's smart a$$ atitude and this was even more prominent in the movie. The special effects were amazing, especially the close-ups of the ships.

All said, it's worth watching.

My favourite Star Trek movies still stand, First Contact and the Voyage Home.

Agreed. I really liked this movie. My only complaint is that it is based on a crew and time I never had much attachment to (TOS crew in 23rd century). I enjoyed it nonetheless. I am looking forward to the 2011 sequel!

It's reached the UK - I've seen it twice now and really enjoyed it. Very believable characters, funny and fast-moving. Lots of references to the original series and to Enterprise. Clever to put it in an alternative reality, so that there can be sequels to the prequel.... Nice to see Uhura have a reasonable role, though it could do with a few more female parts.
