Dear Brother Thomas,
You are aptly named. Our Lord also had a doubter! I pray that you will follow the word you were given and pass this trial. As encouragement, I will say that 15yrs ago I was called to the same ministry when in obedience to the Lord, four of us met in a village hall on the east coast of England. After four weeks, two left because there was no response. The two who were remained, myself and my wife continued in prayer every Sunday in a hall which could easily take 200. We were running out of money to pay for the Hall. We felt very alone and found it very difficult to continue. At times we felt like Job. I pleaded with God to see if we had his word right and each time His reply was "Why do you doubt me? I will increase your faith and draw you closer to me before I make you a true shepherd of my flock". After 5 weeks, four people walked through the doors of the hall. One of these was an ex Roman Catholic priest who had fallen in love and married, thus leaving this denominational church. He later became a real assett to our fellowship. Another was a wonderful musician with a gift of praise. The following week, more, then more, then more. Within one year we had 170 members. There is more of a story to tell, including baptism of believers in the North Sea and His word for me to leave the fellowship and move on to ministry to asylum seekers. I have now been in the wilderness for many years giving ministry to those of other faiths because it was His Word. I no longer have the comfort of other believers as my fellowship is transitory, here today gone tomorrow. But I know that our God is faithful. I am coming to the end when I know that He is going to send me somewhere else. May all praise and honour be to Him who found me and saved me.
Thomas, in the name of Jesus, continue in your ministry. Persevere until the end. Fight the good fight with all your might.Even if it is only one soul saved then it may be that is why He put you there. You may not even know the good you are doing. You may not know why He has even put you there. But you will know one day. Remember, you have been washed in the blood of the Lamb.
Bless you and may our Saviour keep you.
