Subject: give me a bit more to go on...

in regard to bands that "sound like". i'm a bit out of touch with much of the more raw and underground stuff. one band in the stylings that i still dig a lot is a band called murder city devils. they aren't too recent considering they have been broken up for a few years now, but i really, really like the stuff.

punk, as a style, has been raped and prostituted out so badly by corporate music labels that i'm not sure how much untouched magic there is anymore. give me some stuff you like, and i'll try to hook you up with some names.

if you like the garage sound, the white stripes and the strokes are more popular options. i'm not sure if you are into them much. those are guilty pleasures of mine. there is black rebel motorcyle club or something like that some people are hailing as very good.

i've thrown myself pretty heavy into the alternative country ring. i'm really digging ryan adams' stuff (his rock-n-roll album might have some tracks you'd dig and his roots in punk rock are pretty noticeable even if the sound isn't there), the jayhawks are awesome, old crow medicine show (they have a blue grass sound with punk roots), elliott smith, ray lamontagne (these last two don't have much to do with alt-country), and assorted others.

take care of yourselves,

chamberlain
