Subject: fortunately, little news to report on my trip

hung out with mom during her infusion session and all went well. She has had a blood transfusion and they fiddled a bit with her dosage in the hopes of keeping her blood cell counts at acceptable levels. She was pretty free from nausea in the days that followed, thanks to a $100 pill she takes for three days following each session. I guess the rubber should be meeting the road today though. The best news is that she is now done with the first round of four treatments - another round of four to go but the second round is supposed to be less difficult for her. And all indications are that the chemotherapy is having its intended effect.

She is a trooper to say the least. Very upbeat. Obviously, very fatigued. We mostly just sat around and chatted, which was nice since we rarely have the opportunity to do that these days. As you can imagine, Toni and the boys remained in NYC during my trip. I got back on Sunday night and took yesterday off to be with Sam for his first day of Kindergarten, which was really cool.
