Subject: I fuckin' HATE the "C" word

Found out last evening that my mom has breast cancer. Wasn't able to get the full details -- won't know more 'til she meets with the oncologist on Monday -- but she's looking at five to six months of chemo followed by masectomy; radiation treatment and reconstructive surgery. I'm told it's in the skin; most probably has not spread and the one that's new to me - is in "sheet" form rather than encapsulated (or in nodules) -- which explains the need for chemo first -- apparently in this form, the chance of immediate recurrance after masectomy is through the roof (of course all this medical mumbo jumbo is in the hope in means something to our resident medico).

Anyway, haven't spoken to mom yet -- I let the older sisters barrage her the first day -- will talk to her tonight. I hate that this little, 71-year-old woman has to go through all of this. The woman is a saint -- deserves to live healthily and happily to 100 and then go quietly, peacefully and in her sleep.

Cancer sucks!
