Subject: Ok, here's the scoop on a possible job move for Jon

A week ago Jon was on night shifts and as we were talking late that night, he mentions they are looking for someone to help start up a new refinery in Bahrain. Bahrain is in the Middle East, an island about 3x the size of Washington DC, just east of Saudia Arabia in the Persian Gulf. I was immediately interested and so we discussed it all weekend. He spent the first 2 days of this week working on a very detailed application and emailed it yesterday which was the closing date to do so. It is a long shot as they want somebody with more leadership experience, but also someone who has a degree and lots of actual operations expereince. Jon is one of the few in the SLC refinery that has a degree as a lot of people just work their way up from high school.
I personally think he'd do great (Ok, I'm a tad biased LOL) but so does his supervisor. We have no clue when we will hear back from the powers that be. But we are both hoping and praying that he will get it.

yes, It will be a huge change, but I lived in that part of the world before and loved it. I see only good things out of having my children grow up (it would be a 3-5 year position) learning about other cultures. The church is over there, but is small and very close nit. Your branch members become your family and my testimony was never stronger than the year I spent away before. Money wise, it will solve a lot of problems. Jon would go from a base of 55K to 95K and 35% of his salary will be tax free. Their is no taxes at all in the Kingdom and the cost of living is reasonable. Our housing would be paid for as well as all medical. They pay for 2 trips a year back to the states (or anywhere else) for the family and of course pay for the move as well as a trip for Jon and I to check it out before we'd move. They pay the wife 3K just for our hassle and will pay for private education or even boarding school for our kids. We would not sell this house here, but would rent it out using an agency while we were gone.

If he got this job things would be chaotic for sure, but we both feel so good about it. His patriarchal blessing talks aobut positions of leadership and mine talks about following my husband in his travels. Just a week or so before we found out about this, I dreamed my whole family was back in that part of the world and we were very happy!

I'm trying not to get to excited, but I know if he doesn't get it I will be crushed. Unfortunately, our debt counselor says there is not much he can do for us and I will probably need to go back to work, a thought that makes me physically ill. We might even have to declare bankruptcy.

We are going to the temple with my family on Fri afternoon and after 18 months away I'm so excited. I pray that our hearts and minds will be open and as we serve we'll be able to know that whatever happens will be for the best and the way the Lord wants it. Your thoughts and prayers are always appreciated as well.

I'll keep you posted!
L.

I know it may seem hard to "hear" us talking about regular day to day things, when at times you feel like you can't bear another minute. There's a Reba Mcintyre song I love that although talking about a break up describes that feeling so well. "I guess the world didn't stop for my broken heart".

Take everything minute by minute if you need to and feel comfort that you will survive. I can't believe it's been over 7 1/2 years for me! Lean on us.

I think about you often. Please keep posting.
Love, Lynece

For yourselves and your children. We've been toying with the idea of re-applying for Ireland - it is something we are seriously going to consider over the next couple of wks.

Good luck -
