Martha, I hope you get the answers that give some clear direction on what to do. It is easy for us to tell you what we think, but you are living it. Just make sure that your emotions don't take over. If you need to cut him loose then, it will be tough, but so are you. How many chances does one person need? What will it take for him to hit bottom and get the help he needs? You certainly don't want him to take you and the kids to the bottom with him. Good Luck on the job search. I'll be praying for direction, and strength.
