Hi there have you tried putting some baling twine in the palm of your hand or your pocket so when you get to pat the horse they can't see it so you can just put it over there neck without him knowing.

Also some work will listen if they are told to stand and face up, always talk softly maybe even try to whistle or sing it works for mine.

Another solution is to put up a tiny yard and push them in there but if they go in there keep quiet and let them settle for a few minutes before endeavering to catch them.

You can try the join up method act like a horse pretend to eat grass so that they notice you and only make eye contact to get there attention, when you have there attention look down and step back if the horse steps toward you that is the first step in catching him, watch for him licking his lips that means he's taking the thought, if you repeat this and he gets closer reward him with a rub again small amounts of rope so not to scare the horse with a great lump of rope. I hope more success. I would be interested in some of the horses but i live in brisbane. Good Luck
Regards

Renee
