Subject: Baroness Jones?

Obviously it is just a rumour at the moment... but if it turns out that defeated parliamentary Labour candidate Maggie Jones is given a peerage in the New Year's honours list it really must rank as a new low for the Labout party.

What sort of message does this send out to the electorate? 'Don't bother to try and vote us out because we will just slip 'em in through the back door anyway.' Cynicism beyond belief. I'd have been surprised at this sort of thing from the Tories even.

If it turns out to be true is says a lot for her character that she would agree to be rewarded in this way. I know I'd have a bit more pride in defeat than to accept this sort of nepotism.

Hopefully it turns out to be just a rumour.
