Hi Dennis, Sorry can't help with the year but I saw that bus fire. (At least it was probably the same one, this one was in Powell Street ). I was with my elder sister and younger brother, we were on the way home from the pictures at the Palace. We were walking through Rhiw Park towards Evelyn Street (remember the gaps in the railings) and saw a fire, we went to see what it was and saw the bus on fire. I went to look at it the next day and it was compleatly burnt out. -- Abertillery Online Message Board

She thought it more likely that it was a Red and White bus? Your mother could be right about it being a Red and White bus Jamie. As far as I recall Jones never used Powell Sreet or Division Street, but the bus was not in a place where buses usually stopped. I am wondering if the bus caught fire and was abandoned there, or maybe was parked there because of taking people to some sort of function in the Stute. (NT) -- Ray Dix, 21:29:01 07/04/05 Mon

Re: I know that jones's bus booking office was situated at the bottom of Tillery St. Jonens's bus used to park there. They also used to park on the opposite side outside howells Bakery which was also a bus stop used by Jones and colliers on the Brynithel run. (NT) -- Carolyn, 22:57:49 07/04/05 Mon

    - Re: you are right Terry, i had to check back at that one I have no idea why I put Howells, must be an age thing. I for got about the clockwise runs until you said I only ever caught the Jones bus at the bottom of Tillery Street for the Gelli Grug run which would turn at the top of Newhall Street and go back down. It only ran twice a day 12 and 4 I remember it stopping by Howards on the return and I would get off for School. Our secondary school also used the Jones bus service I got on at the bottom of Newhall Street.and it would take the route around Cwmtillery and Alma Street. (NT) -- Carolyn, 00:06:22 07/05/05 Tue
