Well as a non-Welsh speaker I must say I couldn't agree less. I use English (and some French) and learning Welsh is not top priority for me. But if you accept Welsh has a right to exist then how can people learn it and how can communities of Welsh-speakers grow unless people are allowed to use it? It's only through regularly using a language that you become fluent.

I worked in North Wales (Harlech) for a while and English speakers would moan that locals in pubs etc would 'exclude' them by speaking solely Welsh. Would they say the same about French people chatting to each other in French in Toulouse?

Just to reiterate I have no axe to grind - I don't speak Welsh. But I think it is pretty outrageous really to say people shouldn't be allowed to speak Welsh in Wales.
