In reply to: Jamie McCarthy. 's message, "Re: Hello from Australia. From your description, I think you may have lived in the 'new' or 'upside-down' houses on the east side of Cwmtillery ... was there a farm at the top of the housing estate? Powell St is futher down the valley towards town. At the top end of the street is Gelli Crug school and at the bottom end is the Workingman's Institute (or 'Stute). If memory serves, you lived for a while, halfway up the street in an end of terrace house? A boy called Paul Trigg (Trigger) ... who at that time, sported a brilliant David Bowie (Alladin Sane) haircut, (if anyone knows him don't tell him I told you!) ... lived opposite the 'Stute, I think you knew him and his mates?" on 21:17:22 06/14/05 Tue

Hi Jamie. Yes I knew a Paul Trigg and also there was a chap called Lewi (Paul Lewis I think) I went out with for a while, there was also a guy with long ginger hair, not good with names am I (Do you remember any of these guys). All I really remember of the housing estate was looking down the mountain at the old pit, it was still working when I was there onto an estate down 90 steps then there was a big road where I caught the bus to school - Nantyglo Comprehensive. When it snowed we couldn't get down the steps so we tried to get out of school then. We only really came over to stay there for a while though my mother got cancer and died there so we stayed in Abertillery for nearly 3 years. I was born there though my brothers and sisters were born in Australia. Haven't been back since though one day will come for a holiday in passing. Is there much employment in Abertillery or do all the kids have to move away to find work. Thanks for all you info, you still haven't said if I knew you or not. Cheers Debbie
