This is in response to the message from cowgirl84.
I've never been to a slaughter house, but from what I've read, not just on this forum, but from many, many other websites(I've been doing alot of research on animal slaughter), the way they slaughter animals is very cruel. But I also think that without animal meat, America would take a huge downfall. Also meat is essential to an healthy diet. If we stopped eating meat, the animals would probably over populate us at some point.
I'm not saying I think slaughter houses are okay, but where would we be without meat?
I just think that the way they slaughter the animals could be less cruel.
And I've seen animals at auctions where the slaughter houses come to buy them. The animals are all skin and bones, their hooves are not trimmed, their coat is god aweful and full of parasites, and the list goes on. And I've seen how the slaughter house workers get these animals into the trailer. Most of the animals are freaked out and don't know what to do. The slaughter house workers use cattle prods, metal pipes, anything to beat the animals to get them into the trailer. They are not just tapping the animals, they are beating them full force while yelling and swearing at the animals, calling them dumb beasts or whatever.
You say slaughter houses are not evil or cruel, but from what I've seen at auctions they are. If you have ever been to an auction for slaughter animals, you would know how they treat the animals.
