I still watch Y&R but not as often as I might like. At this point I've written a response to the Paul & Christine thing 4 times and have deleted each of them because of the mix of feelings I seem to have.

If anything, this has to be one of the most thought provoking subjects tackled by daytime. Here are two characters who love each other immensely and are both heroes but yet everything they planned for their lives together went very wrong and now they have to see each other moving on to people each knows the other does not love the way they did. They continually provoked each other and flirted with their true feelings.

The biggest conclusion that I can really draw is that maybe there is some some room for gray area. Sexual assault is horrible and seriously wrong. I just don't see how the label can be applied so freely and easily to Paul as we know certain groups would. This storyline thumbs its nose at the writers and execs who only saw dollar signs when they recklessly dealt with rapist characters like Luke Spencer and Jack Deveroux. To GH's credit, they finally dealt with it in a very well-done manner. I'm still not ready to say its a completely cliche storyline until I can see how they develop it...at least it's not yet another alcohol abuse or twin story!
