But their advertising strategies suck, in my opinion. Lucy Johnson knew that the average soap fan(who doesn't pick up Soap Opera Digest) would not be familar with who Jack Wagner is.

All the time, I get frustrated with people I talk to about soap operas, because they don't know the industry as well as I do.

Also, seeing as if Jack Wagner has never been on a CBS Soap and most of them are first learned is first best kind of fans, why would they care about the extra promotion?

If Jack Wagner were advertised as "The Mysterious New Man Coming to Shake up these lives...." then it would have been more CBS-like.

Maybe it's because I preferred the "Get it On" promotional push. Kinda fun to sing along with that cheesy promotional campaign.

Nowadays, there's nothing that sets the promotions from the CBS shows apart from the ABC or NBC shows.

But other than CBS's advertising strategies, I don't know why CBS needs to rely on gimmicks to boost their ratings. Other than Guiding Light, none of the other shows are really in trouble. All they need are better teen actors on As the World Turns and a new head writer on Guiding Light. I think everything else is solid on that Network.
