Trey-Trey, I agree 110% with you in regards to Frons.
My reference to his having little do to with this decision was based on reports Frons was pushing for a renewal but the senior-level ABC and Disney suits decided to cancel.
Sometimes soaps are canceled by the head of daytime, such as SB/AW/SUBE/ this time it wasn't a daytime chief, rather it was much more senior level execs. This led to my speculation CBS/Viacom could do the same the next time GL's fate is up. Clearly Frons wasn't successful in securing PC's renewal, will Bloom have the same trouble with GL?

Not only is B&B the only 1/2 hour soap left, B&B and PASSIONS are the ONLY soaps from the 1980's/1990's

Good point about the affiliates. Especially if the rumors of them getting the timeslot back is true, why on hell would they wait until October? Since the new season begins in September, I am certain mass affiliates will drop PC and launch a new series in Sept in its timeslot. Although I disagree with you. ABC did the right thing by canceling it now, it would be a waste of money to get the series back in production to tape a certain amount of episodes to carry it through January. I'm certain ABC know the affiliates will be dropping the show in Sept, In fact I won't be surprised if privately they are giving their blessing to do so. ABC will likely tell them drop the show in Sept, air a program in that timeslot for one season, but we want the timeslot back for the 04-05 season.
