Ripa Calling It "All" Off?

Soap star, Regis sidekick and mother of two Kelly Ripa may have three full-time jobs--but she's apparently not ready to give up on any of them.

Despite a report that the 31-year-old actress and cohost of Live with Regis & Kelly is quitting her role on All My Children when her contract expires in December, the Daytime Emmy nominee said Monday she plans to remain with the ABC sudser "for many years to come."

The New York Post reported that Ripa was looking to leave or at least cut back on her appearances as Hayley Santos (aka Hayley Vaughn Chandler Courtlandt McIntyre Santos Santos), the role she's played on All My Children for more than a decade.

ABC refused to comment on the status of Ripa's contract, but the bubbly star said in a statement that her character isn't going to meet a soap-style cataclysmic fate anytime soon.

"All My Children has been and will continue to be a big part of my life," she said. "I hope to continue to appear as Hayley Santos for many years to come."

The Post quoted a source saying that Ripa was not looking to renew her contract with the series, but that she was still hoping to continue appearing part-time on a few episodes a week.

After all, Ripa is a busy woman: Last February, she signed on as Regis Philbin's new morning cohost, splitting time between Live and her soap duties. Add to it the fact that Ripa had her second child, Lola, last June, and many wondered how long she could keep going with such a breakneck schedule.

Since joining the ABC soap in November 1990, Ripa's life has revolved around the show, having married her onscreen hubby, actor Mark Consuelos (aka Mateo Santos). But in a recent interview with TV Guide, she spoke of taking more time to stay at home with their kids.

"I like to work but I'm not the most ambitious person," Ripa said. "I do have a fear of unemployment. Because what if I quit one job and the other show goes off the air?"

She then added: "But I've always said to Mark, as soon as his film career takes off, I'm staying home with the kids. That's sort of my ambition."
