Your concept sounds similiar to what a real telenovela is!
We shouldn't forget that PC is a really bad imitation
of a telenovela. In fact, PC isn't really a telenovela.
Not knowing any Spanish, I would assume telenovela means
television-novel. A novel/soap opera that has a distinct
beginning/middle/end. Spanish broadcast networks buy
telenovelas from different production companies, and the
telenovelas premiere and then after so many months air
a final episode, and on the next monday a new novela premieres, new cast, new setting, new everything!
The telenovelas are so popular it airs in PRIMETIME!
Obviously they have proven to be a successful genre.

I think it would be great for a network to try
airing a real telenovela (not a cheap poorly
novela want-to-be like PC). Although with that
said, I still LOVE my American soaps that never ends! :)
I would never want to see an end to the "continuing
story of......" Although when a show like PC premieres
and struggles along for years and years and its obvious
the show is a failure, its time to start with something
new, a telenovela would be nice although I'd be just as
happy to see ABC launching a traditional soap, thats
something they haven't done in a long time! Enough
spin-offs and youth-centered shows! Just give us
a traditional soap!!!!
