NBC-TV premiered "Another World". Created by Irna Phillips, AW was created to air on CBS as a sister soap to As The WORLD Turns. Phillips wanted a super hour-long block of her top-rated 30min. ATWT with AW, she wanted characters from ATWTs Oakdale and AWs Bay City to visit one another. Sadly, CBS didn't have any room on its daytime schedule, so Irna's vision for 2 WORLDs ended. However AW didn't die there, NBC was desperate for a hit soap and they offered to air AW. So on May 4, 1964, Another World premiered on NBC. Happy 38th Birthday AW!
