This show is about as wacky as they come. Dark Shadows is definetly one of a kind.

Today was my first time watching it and I must say, I am shocked people weren't getting controversial about this show. Body/Soul Transplants? Voodoo dolls? LOL.

I wonder how much it cost to put this show together. There were no extras, the sets looked cheap, spooky and recycled, and there were only 5 or 6 actors in each episode I wacthed. I can't imagine a concept like Dark Shadows working today. Barnabas Collins would probably be a shirtless surfer played by Timothy Adams and Cassandra Collins would probably be played by Lindsay Korman. UGH. The thought.

What makes me like this show so much is that it didn't try to be a something it wasn't. It didn't try to revolutionize daytime television with designer duds or good looking actors and actresses. Dark Shadows took itself way too seriously and I think that is one of the things that makes this show so damn good. They had the guts to think what they were doing was good and, surprizingly, it was.

Compare Dark Shadows to Passions. Dark Shadows had better acting(no Emmys from DS, but nevertheless), better writing(pace moves 1,000,000,000 times faster on DS than Passions) and vision. Passions should never make the mistake of comparing itself to DS, but it will NEVER compare to DS. And for the record, Cassandra would kick Tabitha's ass anyday.

Port Charles is no Dark Shadows, either. Port Charles wrapped "love" with all their storylines, not to mention the storyline confusion. And the supernatural stuff is not becoming of PC.

It may be repeats, but DS is Must See TV in my book. I'm offically hooked. I can't wait until tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!
