Officially PC has a long-term commitment, which would
result in writers planning for the long-term.

Really? I thought they were going on a 6 month on/off
schedule, from what you read, maybe they decided on a 3 month on/off rotation. Would make more sense to do
it that way, 6 months hiatus is too long, leaves too much
time for things to go drastically wrong.
