ABC Daytime seems to love premiering soaps that seem to reflect what's hot in primetime and pop culture(The City was a brainchild for innovative camera techniques and frequent outdoor location shoots; Port Charles was an ER-ripoff). And with shows like Will and Grace being popular as ever, this would be the perfect time to make a gay character part of the core of a brand new soap.

In January, 2003(After the cancellation of Port Charles), transplant Bianca to a fictuous Pennsylvania city where she'll transfer to a different college, live on campus and get a taste of what real college life is like. She'll make fast friends with three people on campus: one, a guy who is part of the superrich family who is struggling with telling his family the truth about his own sexuality. The second, a college guy who wants to be initiated into a popular frat. The third person is Bianca's roommate, a girl who recently got out of an abusive relationship with her boyfriend.

On top of this megafriendship, the soap would focus on two core families that are dealing with struggles of infidelity, etc.

The character of Bianca would have a front burner storyline, but not to take away from the rest of the show(including vets, etc.). Not to mention frequent crossovers from the character of Erica, who would continually check up on her daughter(And because of the half-year taping schedule, these scenes would be telephone conversations and visits that would be pre-taped).

So, there's my very sketchy idea. The only problem is that a) I'm a dreamer with no writing credentials and b) The idea wouldn't make it past the bible, probably because affiliates would refuse to air it or show it in the graveyard hours because of the controversy surrounding the prominence of gay characters on the show.

What do you think of my idea?
