Hello ,Many years ago my husband broke his back in 1971.He had a compression fracture of L-4 & L-5,there was also nerve damage to the left leg and loss of feeling in half the foot and leg.L-4 and L-5 were fused then, and the fushion did'nt take.Doctors had to re do it again in 72.In 82 my husband was found to have spinal spinalstenoious in the fusion itself and again operated on.In 92 he was again found to have spinal stenoious and operated on yet again. The past two years he has begun to lose balance and strength in both legs. And now the right foot and leg are going numb. The pain in his lower back has increased steadily over the last two years. In 2003 and MRI was taken and xrays revealed the disk above and below the fushion were compressing into and S curve.I want to know if this is part of a long term effect of fusions, and or information on web sites with information pertaining to this problem only.as for I have searched for answera and have found hardly anything directly relating to disk above and disk below fusion problems...Appreciate your HELP....
