Subject: My Task # 11

In Communicative Approach classes, the teacher may use newspapers articles, letters, small notes or any kind of genre texts to teach students a second language. It’s because the text will be in a sphere higher than the sentence itself. The social function of genre – to communicate – will definitively help students improving their writing and/or oral skills. The genre-based approach used in classrooms can guide students to communicate for example on the telephone. Creating coherent conversation. It can also help students writing a letter. The letter also will have to be cohesive and coherent, so the reader will understand the message in it, thus be part of the function behind the genre chosen. By the way, the context must be appropriate to students. First, they must want to do the activity, and second, they must understand that it may come in hand someday the use of such genre.
