Explain with your own words what a task-based language learning approach is.
In a task-based language learning students will learn the language or revise it in a meaningful way. For that they will do a task with a specific objective in which they will have to use the language to achieve their purposes. In those tasks the students will have a goal to reach or to solve a problem. When the students are performing the tasks they are not restricted to use a pre-defined number of words or a grammar item, they are free to use the language they find more adequate to reach their objectives, and they do not have to stick to a single form.
Jane Willis defined three stages to a task-based learning: the pre-task stage, in which students will select the language they will use; the task cycle where they perform the task; the final stage where they present the results, in this stage the language used will be analyzed and the feedback may be given.
