Explain with your own words what a task-based language learning approach is.
Most of the times it is possible to combine different areas of the curriculum by teaching them in an integrated way. Based on both students’ realities and backgrounds, this way of teaching has proven to be more effective since students learn the subject naturally (the foreign language in this case). It also offers a more realistic use of the language and can, therefore, have a positive effect on students’ motivation to learn the language. According to Vale and Feunteun (apud CAMERON, 2001), task-based language learning approaches provide “whole learning/ whole language experience” in which the tasks “are of value to the overall educational and social development of the child, and not merely to develop English language skills”.
