Subject: Task 7

The task is: to analyze the following lesson plain having Rayn’s text.

In my opinion Wells’ suggestion seems to be proposed to virtual classes. It’s a good way to students become more motivated and involved. As positive points I could mention:

- Wells suggests brainstorm to students give ideas about the factors to consider when buying a car. This suggestion is similar to Ryan’s suggestion to warm up. Brainstorm is a good idea to students get involved in the subject.
- The decision-make phase is important because it makes students get control over the task and be more independent.
- The sharing phase makes students be more collaborative sharing their research. As feedback I think they will be proud in doing a research and other people could access it.
- Wells didn’t mention, but I think in her project students are allowed to not be afraid to make mistakes.
- The relationship between teacher and students seems to be good. The teacher gives to them the opportunity to share ideas, to decide and take decisions.
-
As negative points, or points that need more preparation:

- Wells suggests this project for 9 to 12 grades. Probably in United States children are interested in buying a car. In my opinion, teachers need to have the cultural awareness mentioned by Rayn. This kind of project probably isn’t work with our children in Brazil. It will be interesting change the project’s subject in order to become more attractive to the students.
- The feedback is not explicit, and sometimes it makes students anxious about their learning process. I suggest the students share their summaries and ask for some correction.
- The grammar or vocabulary goal is not explicit too.
- Wells’ project is not complete to a communicative lesson. It needs more speaking activities and opportunities to students practice and use the target language.
