TASK 13


ACTIVITY: Peer Talk
OBJECTIVE: Practice THERE TO BE and PARTS OF A HOUSE
STUDENTS’ LEVEL: basic

Firstly the teacher will show a design of the interior of a house to present all rooms, calling for a choral repetition of each. The students will also be presented to items that may fit in each room.
All students will have a copy of this two storey house.
On a second moment they are asked to sit in pairs and draw the house of their dreams. In order to be able to design one house each pair will need to negotiate measures, items included, size and number of rooms, if it is either a house or an apartment, garden, backyard, colour, etc.
After all pairs are done, they will describe their houses to the whole group and also accept suggestions to whatever they couldn’t come to an agreement.

This activity could be included in Littlewood’s description of communicative activities in the item “Processing information” where students are expected to work with given data and choose their own options.
