Describe the design of a prototypical communicative course.
For everything that we have studied until now, in relation to Communicative Approach, we’ve observed some important considerations that must be presents in a communicative course. As the language use is the most important point, it is necessary that in a course like this the students get conditions for the language use in class room. For that the course must contain activities as dialogues and discussions about a theme proposed by the teacher or for the students themselves. The activities must be built in way to take the students to the development of the speaking skills. The use of contextualized themes to facilitate the students' participation; use of pictures and etc. Therefore, activities addressed for a genuine communication.
The material used in a communicative course will also be chosen in way to propitiate and to motivate the communication in class room. The use of texts of situations real life; the use of visual stimuli to provoke discussions; use of magazines, newspapers and etc.
The teachers' role in a communicative course will be fundamental to develop an appropriate atmosphere. They will be responsible for taking the classes using materials and activities that motivate the students to use the language.
Finally, the students should be conscious that their participation in a course like this, it will be of great importance, because they will be the objective end of all the efforts developed in the communicative course.
