Describe the design of a prototypical communicative course.
A communicative course considers students' needs. The curriculum, then, is planned and changed according to students' preferences and objectives. The activities have a specific audience.

1. OBJECTIVES
The main objective is effective communication, and to help learners to become effective users of the foreign language, which implies a set of actions designed to achieve the expected outcomes. Language is acquired through interaction as well as learned from the teacher.

2. TYPES OF LEARNING AND TEACHING ACTIVITIES

The activities planned in a Communicative course focus in the ability to interact and communicate. Classroom activities are often designed to focus on completing tasks that are mediated through language or involve negotiation of information and information sharing.
Translations are acceptable and the native language may be used, besides the dialogues are not memorizes.

3. LEARNER AND TEACHER ROLES
The learners must participate at their level of skill and comprehension, and to act as an independent participant, searching practice the language.
The teacher is the process’ facilitator between all participants in the classroom. He cannot forget the main objective – communication -

4. THE ROLE OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
Communicative Language uses a lot of materials, mainly text-based, task-based and realia.
They must to promote interest or discussion, and to be relevant to the students’ needs. The usage of authentic reading and listening texts should be chosen and the communicative activities should encourage the students to participate as much as possible.

5. INTERACTION – STUDENTS / TEACHERS
Teachers and students must be confidents Teachers must give opportunities to students to focus on their own learning process through an understanding of their own styles of learning.
