香港的交通費, 其實真的遠效外國為低. 我這樣說, 你可能不相信, 但是這是真的. 以地鐵公司為例, 每一個乘客的每一程平均成本, 足足比外國的要低一半. 由於這個原因, 地鐵公司才會受到國內及西方國家的邀請, 投標經營鐵路服務.地鐵在外國投資所得的回報率, 還要比香港的為高呢.

西方國家的車資之所以看似比較合理, 是因為有政府的大量補貼. 但是, 這些國家的稅率亦比香港的要高很多. 換句話說, 如果我們真的想要有低的公共交通費, 便要請政府補貼公共交通服務. 這即是要我們多交一點稅, 使這個社會公平一點. 但是, 以香港人的性格, 要多交一點稅, 市民會願意嗎?

昨天, 政府推出兩鐵合併的計劃, 這是冒了公共交通公具由一鐵壟斷的風險. 希望這次合併真的可以減少市民的負擔.

香港的公共交通政策, 是一個可持續發展的政策. 它的成功, 是世界所少見的. 最後, 希望政府不要為完全滿足市民的要求, 而放棄以鐵路為主的公共交通策略.
