I can't agree more with your observation how some domestic helpers are being abused in HK.
However, I also come across a lot of cases where some domestic helpers choose to use extreme methods to obtain compensations from their employers, such as causing physical injuries on themselves, abusing the children when parents are not watching. When the cases go to court, the middle class employers may get jailed or even go bankrupt for paying the legal bills arising from criminal and civil proceedings as they are not qualified for legal aid; whereas the originally disavantaged domestic helpers could always get legal aid and various charities to support their claims. It is sad to see such unfair retributions!
