Snowy I'm appalled at your views!

Firstly Abertillery BG RFC are one of the only Gwent sides to fully support Dragons age rugby.

Last season we hosted the Dragons under 18's training and matches. This season we've gone one better, we host ALL the under 16's training sessions and the under 20's matches - WHAT CAN OTHER GWENT SIDES BOAST.

The under 18's use Caerphilly for their matches - this Wednesday's match was cancelled due to a "waterlogged" pitch, the Dragons then contacted Abertillery BG RFC on Tuesday. We had already transferred our training session to the astro turf to protect the park with foul weather being forcast.

Our prime concern must be Abertillery BG RFC and what would have been the response from our paying supporters if our match had been called off due to the park being cut up on Wednesday evening?

Where were the other clubs - Ebbw Vale, Newbridge, Cross-Keys, Pontypool, Newport etc volunteering to stage this match?

So don't criticise our committee who are doing their best to promote Club and District rugby in our area!!

  • Snowy, I know nothing of the situation you report here but I see that you say you have heard about this, i.e it is hearsay. It may be untrue - I don't know. Before trying to belittle the club as "dinosaurs" and only Division Five etc on a public forum, perhaps a more balanced view is required I suggest. I hope someone from the committee involved in this decision (if they were indeed) will give their side of the story on ths site as well. I think the club has tried to very encouraging of the Dragons development sides to date when they have played at the Park. (NT) -- Dai, 14:52:10 10/27/05 Thu
  • I see that the secretary has now answered above. It confirms what I said in that I know that the club has been very enthusiastic and positive in helping the Dragons. There is a balancing act with the club's own interests however as the Sec states and we have to be mindful of that as well. It appears that the situation is somewhat different to simply not allowing usage of the floodlights. (NT) -- Dai, 14:56:28 10/27/05 Thu
