good question and one I have on the schedule to look into again.
I have one 8mm reel from FC taken in front of Zanadu that I want to get in digital media and went looking a few years back to find out how. there are services that can do it for you that are probably less expensive than getting all the equipment to do it yourself.
Of course I have just the one reel 50 foot so won't be spending a lot if I use one.
Frans family had some film from his grandfather that his younger brother I think had put on VHS tape many years back. From tape to digital can be done easily and there are one piece uits you can get to do that.
Film to digital though might be unavailable so far or maybe not gotta chack that out.
