Bob: While you are in Nicaland, scoot over to San Juan del Sur and look me up if you have time. I'm there from 1/28 to 3/26 or so - staying in a house called El Lobo; if you come, check with San Juan Property Management el frente la playa, para direcciones a la casa. Sjds is about 2 hours by chicken bus from Managua; it's known as Gringolandia by some, but it's a fairly chill place.

Bluefields is a bit gritty, and the Corns are limited. Going in a panga, eh? Good luck with that - the seas can be very rough on the way over. Big or Little Corn?

Any place can be dangerous, even the North Country. It all depends on what you are looking for, whether you want to put up with a certain level of risk. You have to have your wits about you most of the time in Nica, especially Managua - keep your money in a money belt, and your eyes open behind your back. Never put down anything you don't want to see disappear. Seriously.

Good luck, and I hope to see you!
