Leaving out of course that up until the McCain Feingold rule this was normal proceedure so no long term non participation in campaign adverts actually existed and we simply went back to what had been the norm for the balance of the existence of the republic.

I have no objections to the unions having the same " rights " as the corporations on the basis the decision was made on ... I.E. that the members or shareholders being citizens with the right ot be heard the Unions and the corporations representing their respective members and shareholders have the right to be heard on the issues as they see them.

However the shareholders have the right to " vote " on the corporations message by selling their shares if they disagree wheile the union members do not have the same rights if the union doesn't represent them and cannot decide to leae the union for that reason without loosing their union guaranteed rights and privledges.

Back a while my parents were members of the NJEA and NEA which always supports the democrat candidate and seldom if ever the republican or the independent. This despite the fact that for most of it's existence the NJEA had 49 % Republicans and 51 % democrats so was only supporting the wisjes and views of about half of their membership.
Now I would suppose there are a lot more independents in the unions than there used to be NJ being about evenly split between all three political factions with the indy group on the rise while the other two keep falling behind.
Unfortuneately this is a state that does not allow a third party primary so a lot of the independents register as dems for the primaries and vote independent for the real elections.... not as much as they once did but stil more in that category than those who don't vote in primaries at all and just influence the final choices.

Interesting that while the corporations and unions were not allowwed to " voice ' their opinions on the media the media got very one sided which of course there is no way of controlling without instituting a dictatorship and declaring the media government controlled or buying out the media directly or through the back door by governemnt support....whoops that already took place in at lest one oinstance... thought that was not constitutionally allowed... must have been mistaken the gov can run the media and buy into corporations via the back door like any good national socialist state.......
