Also many people just don't like or don't want to deal with the facebook thing so they won't be there .

All this social interaction stuff is still in development no matter how sophisticated it gets. The internet is sort of like radio was back in the first half of the last century.
A lot of new things and advances all the time and a lot of private individuals interacting and no real long term organisation as the net works out what they want to do in the future.
