Definition of: Facebook (from PCMAG.COM)

A very popular social networking site founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. The name Facebook comes from the paper document often issued to college freshmen to help them get acquainted on campus.

Initially targeting Harvard students, it was later opened to other universities and then high schools. In 2006, Facebook allowed everyone to join and added a News Feed feature that would broadcast changes in members' pages to all Facebook users identified in their personal network of friends. It turned Facebook into a personalized social news service that by 2009 had more than 200 million members.

Using the search facilities on Facebook, members can locate other Facebook members and "friend" them by sending them an invitation, or they can invite people to join Facebook.

The current list of FaceBook Friends is provided below in my post titled "Friends of Win from FaceBook". This list is available to everyone on FaceBook, Twitter, through the "PORTAL" and now on this Franconia Forum too. It is my belief that our group will grow through networking. This list has been and will continue to be available to everyone who wishes to network and perhaps attend our next reunion in August 2010. So, below is the working list from FaceBook, nothing else. There are many others who have not responded through FaceBook and elsewhere. Their names are not found below on this working list.

I hope this explanation of my activities on FaceBook serves to enlighten and inform those who simply do not understand what I am doing. And that is............

INVITING EVERYONE TO A PARTY.

It will be a decade since the last BIG reunion when we all come together again in August 2010. I realized the power of social networking would allow us to gather again. Perhaps for the final time, if we only have large format reunions once a decade. I had a desire to share photos that our deceased friend Peter Crook had willed to me. I went on sharing photos of people from Franconia with others that have a mutual interest. Back in July, I contacted 86 people and inquired about another reunion in 2010. Six people didn't answer and of the remaining 80 about 75 said the dates work for them. I started to share the dates with more and more poeple. I have always been able to program computers and wrote what I call the "Super Friend Finder". The software takes the Big List of Names which contains about 3,000 people and it looks for contacts between them. That is one way to find Franconia folk. I also use more obvious forms of search. There are 100+ plus people, on FaceBook, who have indicated they will attend a reunion next August. There are another couple of dozen off FaceBook who have indicated they will attend next August too. Thank you for allowing me to explain my motives and my desire to keep moving along with our all inclusive reunion next August. I wish you all well.
