Fairpoint had touted that they would be aggressive in provisioning DSL in the territory they acquired from Verizon.
Verizon had no interest in provisioning DSL beyond the 18K ft.
twisted pair limitation. So people who lived close to the switch were in luck, those farther out were high and dry. Fairpoint
said they would install the necessary hardware to provision DSL everywhere in their service area. Now that they are the
incumbants in the service area, they apparently changed their minds and have no intention of provisioning DSL beyond where it is currently available.
