Subject: crossing party lines

Last election I voted for one candidate each from the two major parties on the local level for town government. the Democrat was a good friend and a genuinely good guy who served for decades on the local plice department and has a real handle on making things better locally.
On the rest of the ticket though there is usually either no choice or a known winner until you get to the upper offices.
Likw Rick I coun=ld never vote for F Lautenbug who neve had an original thought in his life and is a party hack who gets credit for other peoples work ( they pout his name on bills for that which he had nothing to do with writing or which his staff did all the thinking for since he apparently can't do that for himself ) . He's also not really a residnet having spent most of his life in DC and only came back to jersey for a few days to campaign while he was in office the last time around going so far as to show up for a photo op when the shoreline cleanup was being undertaken and flew in made an appearance then flew out in about an hour while Bill Bradley walked the entire coastline and was the real power behind that initiative.
Bill of course was a neoconservative and voted strictly in support of his constituency and against party lines on many if not most occasions ( should have run and won for president ).
Nothing against the present candidates for president they are both compromises for a bad year for candidates. Nobody knows what Barak will do if elected and nobody knows what J M will do if the same.
Not even sure who's running for other offices in the state since all of the adverts are now done with no party affilliation given and only the final notation identifies any party affilliation for the ones running the ads ( less than a second on the bottom of the screen ) and there really hasn't been much advertising for candidates this time around not even the presidential runners though when it's there it's about three to five for O and D but since they probably have the state sewn up they are not bothering much with Jersey in either party and whatever is there is probably aimed more at Penna than here anyhow.

should be an interesting election in any case and as I have said before either a landslide or a tooth and nail tight race, can't really tell from polls that ask five hundred to a thousand people and show a seven percent margin for error which is a 14 percent shift if you think about it and most are not double digit differences or a three to five and single digit dif so in effect can be even or a double digit dif if the margins are interpreted one way or the other.
Polls of course are always rigged with the questions asked so not really a way to show what the voter is thinking which only really comes out in the voting booth....
