There were probably more conspiracy theories surrounding the
cancellation of the Avro Arrow than there were over the assassination of the JFK. I guess one of the more popular
theories was that the Arrow project was so thoroughly penetrated by the KGB that Diefenbaker pulled the plug on it to prevent such an embarassment that could potentially bring
down the Tory government. There were more KGB agents working in Malton than in the Lubyanka in Moscow, so it
went.
