Subject: Why, that sounds so Reasonable....

Why, that sounds so Reasonable....

As usual, you manage to hide your message of helplessness and despair beneath a blanket of Reasonableness. It is a common tactic, and one sees it a lot in the Yellow Mass Media: sort of a truculent reasonableness.

Your underlying response, however, is always the same: you always point out that "it is a damn tough neighborhood to be in if you disrespect people in authority". The message: beware of authority; you are powerless. Listen to the Reasonable P Dog.

Oh sure, you allow a touch of sympathy; you can drop a few crocodile tears for the poor pathetic fools who engage in 'revolutionary theatre', but the Reasonable P Dog is too experienced (excuse me: Experienced) to fall for that.

You love to belittle any action with your label 'revolutionary theatre'; it is almost as handy as calling the writer a 'conspiracy theorist', isn't it? A couple years ago when I invited you and others to come to DC for the march on the Pentagon, Mr. Reasonable P Dog was 'far too busy' to 'waste time' with a bunch of 'wannabe revolutionarys'. Well I was there, and I looked for the 'wannabe revolutionarys' you derided so. There were a few, but their numbers have been dwindling for years and at that march they might have numbered about a dozen or two in the crowd of tens of thousands. Tens of thousands of families, with kids in strollers, of middle aged couples, of elderly people, of real Americans gravely concerned about the direction our country has been taken by a pack of free-booting pirates, 'lead' by Mr. Reasonable P Dog's president. Reasonable P Dog's message: stay home, be quiet, demonstrations don't get anywhere, YOU are powerless and probably don't understand, anyway.

'You don't understand'. That is another favorite Reasonable P Dog tactic, isn't it? When some one wants to see Bush in front of a court, what is your reaction? You throw the whole case out because they suggested the 'wrong' court. Oops! you filed the wrong paper! you have nullified your whole case! Mr. Reasonable P Dog KNOWS about this stuff, and YOU are WRONG! Too bad, eh? The take home lesson: you are helpless before forces you can never understand; you defeat yourself. Listen to Reasonable P Dog, leave important matters to capable (important) people.

Reasonable P Dog is a (very modest but) capable person, listen to him. He has intimated he might have a law degree on his wall (maybe from a correspondence school advertised on match books, but hey, YOU (Mr or Ms not-P Dog person) went to Franconia).

Essentially, Mr. Reasonable P Dog, you are engaged in a campaign to despond and defeat; in a Reasonable P Dog world the only option is to wave your flag, cheer the troops and hope for the best. If you have concerns about what your country is doing, just "kick them to the curb" and let the 'smart' people think for you. If you go under in a rain or economic storm, well, YOU just didn't plan as well as you should have, eh? Oh, yes, and if you stand up: expect to get hammered down. Hard.

It isn't to just recent posts that I refer, this is a long term pattern for you. You are really just an Iowan Vidkun Quisling, are you not? Not that you are seeking to seize the reigns of power, but rather that you are a fifth columnist, sowing the seeds of isolation and despair under a guise of reason. When individuals act, you deride it as theatre, when they try to act in concert, you accuse them of delusion. When unions fight for their members, you join the owners in shouting that it is all the worker's fault.

How will you ridicule that fellow in Utah who just, last week, by himself, stopped the sale (or give-away) of federal lands (MY lands) to oil companies? He went into the sale and bid up every property, and himself won quite a few of them. The ones he did not get he forced the oil barons to pay very much more than they would have otherwise. Is THAT just THEATRE? HE can hold the properties at least until February, when it is POSSIBLE (barely possible) that the new administration will withdraw them from sale. He was interviewed on Democracy Now this morning. It is too early yet for the transcript, but it should be up later on

You had a lot of trash to write about the auto industry in the last few years and weeks, always brushing off documented evidence of your numerous errors of fact. How would you belittle some one like Gregg Shotwell, who is a good authority on the industry. He gave an informative interview last Friday:

You are slick in your Mr. Reasonable P Dog act, I will give you that; usually cool and collected and oh, so reasonable. You don't usually give into impotent bluster like my old HUD3-buddy Rick. It is obvious too that you are (publicly, at least) uncomfortable with David Jankowski's rantings; at least with his tendency to drool while raving. I suspect, though, that this discomfort is a bit of an act; it makes you look so reasonable, and that is the real goal, eh?

Still, you were reduced to calling me the Beltway Borehole, whatever that might be. I admit that it is not quire as colorful, or as flattering, as being called "a perpetuator of lies and propaganda" by Rick. But Rick is someone who seems to thrive on a steady diet of lies and propaganda, so his taste buds may be a bit dulled.

Oh, dear, I have rambled on haven't I? Sorry about that.
