Subject: Change We Can Believe In?

Is it surprising that Change We Can Believe In turns out to be no change at all?

President-Elect Obama's choice for Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner, has acknowledged failing to pay some $38,000 in taxes over a 4 year period. Once again we see that if you are rich and well connected you are above the law...now there's audacity. Rewarding this behavior...now there's audacity. This is the least of the disappointments in an administration that has not even begun. Cabinet pick after cabinet pick are the same old tired choices. Audacity of Hope is subservient to "pragmatism". The president Obama is frequently likened to is John Kennedy...another president considered a "pragmatist". This pragmatism led to the Bay of Pigs Fiasco and our stepping squarely into the quagmire of Viet Nam. The great achievements of Kennedy's New Frontier, Voting Rights Act, Civil Rights Act, Medicare, Medicaid were Great Society achievements not New Frontier accomplishments.

Audacity? Selecting a tax evader to head the department that collects taxes is truly Audacious.
Audacity? Selecting Rick Warren to offer the "inaugural prayer"is truly Audacious.
Audaicty? The knee jerk, poll driven reaction of inviting Gene Robinson as an offset to Rick Warren is truly Audacious.
Audacity? "One President at a time" on touchy foreign policy matters but not when it comes to requesting Bail Out Bucks is truly Audacious.

I wish the President-Elect nothing but good fortune and success. I canvassed for his election while I had the Audacity of Hope...Now I'm looking for a Change We Can Believe In.
