I think that Christina makes many valid points toward the mental health of a patient, yet one question immediately comes to mind: Could these practices be able to be done without over bearing the already stressed doctors? I think that the well being of a patient is both physical and mental, and if one of the two is in anyway faulted the result can be very dangerous. I think that mental health is best resolved through person to person contact-whether in groups or patient to doctor. Christina made a wonder point that "Doctors should discuss all possible "treatments" and aspects of the disease so that the patient can fully understand what will happen and can better prepare themselves for the painful things that may happen in the future." I think that understanding is necessary for any person especially one that is undergoing a genetic diagnosis. Doctors should always make it clear to the patients what options there are as well as what psychological practices would best assist them. A person is not without a physical presence and a mental presence , if either of those is hindered the balance is uneven and will eventually lead to greater and more challenging problems.
