Most definitely. Buffy, with the exception of Hush, was never that scary. And rarely gory. I will admit that the gory levels on SPN has been increasing, and I hope it doesn't much more. I don't want to watch from behind my fingers.

I think of these shows as paralleling one another thematically, but each clearly demarcated, with SPN not trying to be another BtVS. I am glad of that. The relationship of the brothers is unparalleled on television, and the absolute core of the show. And that is wonderful to see.
