I think SMG is someone who likes to keep her work live separate from her private life. I remember seeing an interview with James Marsters about his first meeting with her, in which he said she told him that she didn't date the people she worked with, or words to that effect.
I can understand her attitude; I am much the same way in my work - I like my co-workers, but I don't socialize with them. Work is work, the rest of my life is not.
I think the fans can be a little harsh when someone like Sarah doesn't fit into their idea of what a star should be.
