Maybe he lost his funny because the show dealt with more adult themes after S4 and his brand of humor no longer fit in with the new direction. I agree that he was humorous and continued to be so, only in smaller doses. As far as Buffyspeak, I always thought almost all the characters contributed and I certainly attribute a lot of the style to Willow, even more than Buffy and certainly more than Xander but perhaps this is just a personal impression.
