I found and read this thread, I believe in July of 02 archives.

I agree whole-heartedly with your view of Xander, except that you perhaps diplomatically did not carry it as far as I would have liked. I of course cannot begin to see how ITW can be interpreted favorably towards Xander. Its nice to Anya, but his intervention on Buffy is an outrage.

The reasons why you shouldn't hate Xander also seem to suggest a Xander Buffy romance. I trust that having come to the conclusion of the series everyone now agrees, as you and I no doubt did long ago, that such a relationship would be repugnant.

Incidentally, Xander more than continued his abuse in Season 7, directing it more and more at Buffy as it went on.

In many ways he's just a sad lost soul.
