We never saw The Seal during any of the Hellmouthy incidents prior to S7 so where did it come from? Did someone just show up one day when they were re-building Sunnydale High with a truck and get the site agent to sign a chit for "Mystic Portal End-Cap Qty: ONE (1) (CAUTION: Do not bury under more than 8 inches of loose topsoil as this will make the release of any and all undead armies virtually impossible without extensive demolition work)"?

I could write that scene!

Foreman (Speaking into a telephone): Yeah, erm, about this unexplained room in the basement with no proper floor and no purpose and the big hole in the middle that unspeakable beasts from the bowels of Hell crawl out of on a regular basis?

Pause

Foreman: Uh-huh, yep, well about three a week at the moment but they won't be missed; non-union labour.

Pause

Foreman: Thing is we've got instuctions to fit an MPEC and that's a skilled job; class 1 weld at least and my guys won't touch it without a permission to work certificate signed by me in my own blood and counter-signed by Satan himself.

Pause

Foreman: It's an insurance problem.

Pause

Foreman: Yeah, I thought all the lawyers worked for you as well but they heard a rumour somehow and now the best offer they'll make is to throw a 50mil 18:8 plate across the doorway and fix the MPEC to that.

Pause

Foreman: That's what I said, (slight pause) I think they do know that it is has to be horizontal to hold the blood whatever the other inconveniences but the only thing any of them would say to me after that was "Eat me!"

Pause

Foreman: Yeah, I'll tell them "Offer accepted", when will you be here?
